Do I need a website?
Resumes limit what you can share, especially in the AI review process. Consider a website to be your digital resume. And it doesn’t require website publishing skills.
How I stay positive: “At least”
The phrase “At least” isn’t an emotional detachment or avoidance to your situation. It’s a way to name the problem and acknowledge the positive aspects.
The cultural shift: From skills to social status
In the last 60 years, our culture has shifted value from skill-based roles to college degrees. Moving forward, do we continue to place that dichotomy on our kids?
Don’t blame AI for your job loss
Yes: artificial intelligence (AI) is replacing jobs. But this isn’t the first time that new technologies sparked a cultural transformation.
Money: When unemployment becomes a full-time job
It’s exhausting to try to get ahead of the bill that you know you can’t afford because you’ve lost your job. Especially if that job loss was out of your control. You aren’t the only one.

Managing mental health
As a fellow job seeker impacted by a corporate layoff, I am also experiencing the challenges of our current competitive, AI-driven job market. I see, hear, and share the mutual frustrations and bewilderment. In my experience, the most successful way to secure a new role is through networking. However, those in-person opportunities are hard to find. Many people are terrified of networking, even on LinkedIn.
I can help fill that gap. My background is marketing and communications. I’m a natural networker, and I’m a writer. Some of my innate qualities are honesty, transparency, and finding the positivity in a negative situation.
But most importantly: I know what it’s like to have nothing. To be starting from scratch. To ask for help.
We’re all going to be okay; we just have to stay together. And maybe we can find some ways to have fun in the process, learn from each other, and build a community: a network.
